Welcome aboard!

Cortex reads the chart alongside you and flags coding issues before the claim goes out. Setup takes about 15 minutes. Let's get you going.

   Add Cortex to Chrome

   Add Cortex Lens to Chrome↗

   That opens the Chrome Web Store. Click the blue Add to Chrome button, then Add extension.

   Next, put the Cortex icon where you can always find it. At the top right of Chrome, next to the web address, click the puzzle piece. In the list that opens, click the pin next to Cortex Lens.

   Now the Cortex icon, a yellow heartbeat line on a dark square, sits at the top right of Chrome whenever you need it.

   Sign in

   Open the sign-in email in Chrome, in the same window where you added Cortex. If your email opens in Outlook, Safari, or Edge instead, copy the link and paste it into Chrome's address bar.

   1. Click the Cortex icon at the top right of Chrome. A small panel drops down.
   2. Click Sign in. A second small window opens. Leave it open until you're done.

   

   3. Type your work email and click Email me a sign-in link.
   4. Open that email in Chrome, click the link, then click Continue.

   Done! Click the Cortex icon again. Where it said "Not signed in," you'll now see your email address.

   Link expired? Ask for one new link. Asking for several in a row can pause sign-in emails for a while.

   Work your first chart

   Open an encounter in Practice Fusion. A dark Cortex box appears at the top right of the chart. Click Analyze in that box, and in a few seconds you'll see findings like these:

   

   Each finding names the code, what Cortex saw in the chart, and what it suggests instead.

   Want Cortex to check every chart without clicking Analyze? Click the Cortex icon and check the box next to Auto-analyze.

   Cortex suggests. You decide.

   • Check it against the chart. Cortex is a second set of eyes, not the coder of record. Read the note before you change a code.
   • Coding questions go to your practice's coding lead.
   • Clinical questions go to the provider. Cortex never asks you to diagnose.

Cortex gets better the more you use it

This part is optional. When Cortex makes your day, or gets something wrong, you can tell us in one tap. Point at any finding and a thumbs up and thumbs down appear.

Your votes go straight to our team. They show us which findings miss so we can fix them and tune what Cortex flags, which means fewer false alarms for you over time. No need to vote on everything; a few a week makes a real difference.

Please don't type patient names or other identifying details in the comment box. The vote already tells us which finding you mean.
